Installation FAQ

Where do you install and how much does installation cost?

  • Installation in the red circle is included with the base price of your mailbox post.

  • Installation in the orange circle is base price +$50.00

  • Installation in the yellow circle is base price +$100.00

  • Installation in the green circle is base price +$150.00

  • If you are outside these zones, contact us. We might be able to accommodate you depending on our availability.

Will you remove and haul away my old mailbox?

Generally, yes. Standard removal is included in the base price. However, if you have a masonry mailbox or other complicated removal, we may require an additional charge for removal. Any such fee would be agreed to by you and us before we make your new post. We will never hit you with any surprise charges after installation.

How quickly can you install my mailbox post?

We will contact you to schedule an installation date. Because all posts are handcrafted to order, you can expect a minimum one week turnaround.

How do you install the mailbox post?

If we are installing into the ground, we will dig a hole approximately 6” in diameter and 24” deep, place the post in the hole, and fill around the post with crushed rock and sand, compacting the rock as we fill. We prefer this method to using concrete because crushed rock allows better drainage, helping to prevent your post from rotting prematurely.

If your site doesn’t allow for digging (for example, if we need to install on top of an existing concrete slab), then we will bolt a post base into the concrete and fasten the post into the base.

Do I have to be home for installation?

Nope!

What are the USPS regulations for mailbox posts?

To comply with USPS regulations, we will install your post so that the bottom of the mailbox is 41-45” above street level and 6-8” set back from the street.

Do you landscape around the base of the mailbox post?

No. We will maintain your existing grass as much as possible, but there will be — at a minimum — a few inches around the post that are left with exposed crushed rock and/or dirt. Depending on where your old mailbox is located, we may need to dig an entirely new hole in a slightly different location to comply with USPS regulations. In such a case, we will fill the old hole with dirt but will not add new grass or otherwise landscape the area.
